Software
Open-source tools for understanding the microscope, modelling measurements and turning images into useful data.
SIMULATION & TEACHING
TEMGYM
Explore electron trajectories, alignment and lens behaviour.
TEMGYM Basic
An interactive first-order TEM simulation for teaching and training. Practise beam control, build microscope configurations and connect the controls to their effect on the beam.
TEMGYM Advanced
Ray tracing through magnetic and electrostatic electron lenses, with evaluation of first-order properties and third-order geometric aberrations.
The separate TemGym/TemGym repository provides an interactive first-order TEM simulation. Check the repository documentation for the appropriate version and installation instructions.
DETECTOR MODELLING
InFluence
Model images captured with direct electron detectors.
A Python package for exploring detector response under realistic imaging conditions. Use it to investigate how the detector transforms a signal and how electron-fluence limits affect the recorded image.
The accompanying notebooks and examples support comparison of simulations with experimental measurements.

PARTICLE SEGMENTATION
TEMPOS
Transmission Electron Microscopy Particle Outline Segmentation.
A graphical workflow for generating synthetic datasets, training segmentation models, applying them to experimental images and exporting the results.
- Create synthetic particle images and apply contrast-transfer effects.
- Train and evaluate Detectron2 models.
- Segment images, post-process outlines and export measurements.
For research users working with particle outlines and morphology. Environment setup and annotated evaluation data are important parts of the workflow.
IMAGE & VIDEO PROCESSING
SimpliPyTEM
Make common TEM analysis tasks easier to use and repeat.
A Python library and accompanying app for processing transmission electron microscopy images and in situ videos.
- Enhance contrast, filter images and add scale bars.
- Process video sequences and create previews.
- Measure particle morphology and generate HTML or PDF reports.
