People

The researchers and software developers behind our work in microscopy, crystallography and image analysis.

GROUP LEAD

Dr Andrew Stewart

UCL Chemistry · TEM Facility Manager

Andrew’s research connects electron crystallography, coherent diffractive imaging and electron optics.

He leads AMCLab and manages the transmission electron microscopy facility in UCL Chemistry. His work combines microscopy experiments with simulation and open-source analysis, with a particular interest in extracting useful information from small crystals and beam-sensitive materials.

Alumni

Former group members and the research they contributed.

Gearóid Mangan

Detector response & low-fluence imaging

Developed InFluence and studied how detector behaviour and electron fluence affect microscopy measurements.

Applications Scientist · Quantum Detectors

Eoin Walsh

Nanoparticle detection & measurement

Worked on automatic detection and measurement of nanoparticles in TEM images. His current research develops segmentation algorithms for three-dimensional and four-dimensional X-ray microtomography data.

Postdoctoral Fellow · Solid Mechanics, Lund University

Gabriel Ing

Liquid-phase microscopy & image analysis

Studied electron microscopy of biological molecules and developed SimpliPyTEM, a library and app for processing TEM images and in situ videos.
